I agree and I would very much welcome the feature to see the job on the map before you drive 6 miles for a mile and half trip. The problem the rideshare companies run into (and is not my problem, they have to deal with it) would be fact that drivers will take the most efficient rides and and many riders may have wait a long time to get a ride, if any at all. But are ‘driver partners’ employees or independent contractors? Since its inception, Uber has operated throughout the western world on the premise its ‘driver partners’ are independent contractors. However, much to Uber’s disappointment, there is an ever increasing list of authority suggesting that premise might be wrong. The distinction really matters. In an article titled Are Uber is an employer because it does have significant control over how drivers perform their work. Other federal courts held the opposite. The issue is far from settled.
